TechKno Theatre

A visit to Sci-TechKnoFest 2013 would not have been complete without a visit to the TechKno Theatre, the place where science hits the stage! Sci-TechKnoFest's Techno Theatre provided action packed edutainment (educational entertainment) from a host of amazing artistes and dramatists, who shared performances that linked to the Festival's theme.

The TechKno Theatre was open to visitors each day of the Festival, and a trip there was at no extra cost.

At Sci-TechKnoFest 2013, visitors enjoyed the following line-up of stage stars:

Mr. David Price

David is no stranger to Sci-TechKnoFest, having wowed audiences with energetic performances at the 2008 and 2011 festivals. At Sci-TechKnoFest 2013, the outstanding science showman from Science Made Simple in the U.K. entertained with two new performances: "Izzy's Excellent Adventure" and "It's Only Water".

Inter-Caribbean Children's Ministries

Another crowd favourite, the team from ICCM was back with the loveable crew of puppets - George, Stanley and others in two new shows. Patrons enjoyed "George Theory" and "The Journey Now Start" on the TechKno Theatre stage throughout the Festival.

JJ and Friends

Especially among the younger visitors, each Sunday at the TechKno Theatre generated a special level of excitement with JJ and Friends. This group of kids sang and danced and performed a new song written just for Sci-TechKnoFest 2013: "Inventions that have changed our world" which their fans enjoyed.

Mr. Alwyn Gordon

Educational toys can mix the right amounts of curiosity, creativity and enjoyment to directly influence the intellectual development of any child. The Science Centre's ever popular, in-house science showman, Mr. Alwyn Gordon showcased his science skills and the science behind "Toys and Inventions". His performances ntroduced the X-Zylo launcher, the static wand and air swimmers, each week during Sci-TechKnoFest 2013.

Necessary Arts Theatre Group

With hopes to win a grand prize, 4 students work together to invent something outstanding to present at an upcoming Expo in their district. Along their journey, we learnt about some of the world's past inventions, the procedures involved in creating an invention and why we need inventions. "Preparing for an Invention" was put on by the Necessary Arts Theatre Group on October 5th - 6th and then on selected dates from October 11th - 20th.

Let's Play Pretend

"Science - bringing the world together" introduced Ms. Sci-TechKnoFest (STKF)... she was a bubbly science fanatic, eager to share her knowledge on science and innovation. We meet her at the airport, where she explores the birth of the airplane and the science behind its operations. Later, we find Ms. STKF at a hotel, where she engages in an in-depth discussion with a guest about the evolution of the computer and the invention of the internet. Then, en route to a pharmacy, we learn about the creation of the automobile.
