Since its establishment, NIHERST has resourcefully pursued its mandate to promote the development of science, technology, research and higher education in Trinidad and Tobago and to enhance the innovative, creative and entrepreneurial capabilities of the general population. In fulfilment of this mandate, the Teach ME project was established in September 2017 on the heels of the INVOCAB project, an EU funded project created to improve teachers’ capacities in science education as well as to implement an innovation framework in selected schools in the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica).

The Teach ME project aimed to contribute towards improving the levels of creativity in Trinidad and Tobago by building and strengthening capacities in the areas of Science, Technology and Innovation and specifically Science Education as an enabler for ensuring that our education at primary and secondary levels prepares our young people for the challenging world of Science and Technology.

Teach ME Objectives

  1. To increase teachers' confidence and competence in the transfer of knowledge and technical skills of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects to students at the primary and secondary levels.
  2. To improve primary and secondary students’ 21st century skills (creativity, critical thinking, communication, or collaboration).
  3. To increase students’ knowledge in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.
